Curiosity

Tap the ones you want to practice. They stay marked on this phone.

1. 1Judgment arrives first, fast and uninvited. It's the same machinery as the Judge, pointed outward, and it isn't a flaw.
2. 2Judgment closes doors, and expertise often makes it worse. Every label that rejected a young Taylor Swift was staffed by experts.
3. 3Curiosity is a choice. Make it at the exact moment your certainty feels most justified.
4. 4Curiosity is the state behind good questions. Without it, a question becomes a corridor you herd someone down, and players can tell.
5. 5Find your fence. Where are you curious (learning, development) and where aren't you (people, approaches that differ from yours)?
6. 6Small doses work. Ten percent more curiosity returns far more than ten percent. One pause can change the rest of the night.
7. 7Curiosity isn't inventing exceptions or denying facts. You can hold someone accountable and be curious about them at the same time.
8. 8Keep your mastery. Like a pianist, play the keys you know, and reach for an unfamiliar one when the moment calls for it.
9. 9Stay curious to learn, not curious to know. Knowing about a bias, like favoring kids born early in the year, doesn't remove it, so keep asking "What am I not seeing?" Model curiosity too: how you react when a new idea fails teaches players how to live with uncertainty.
10. 10Before a dreaded interaction, ask: "What is one thing I don't know about this person?" This week, catch one judgment and replace it with a genuine question.
